Treat Peri-Implantitis with Laser Therapy
Similar to gum disease, peri-implantitis is an infection of the gum and bone tissue that surround a dental implant. When peri-implantitis is left untreated, the infection can cause an implant to fail as the bone and gum tissue holding it in place is lost and even spread to surrounding teeth. In order to save your implant investment, we offer LAPIP™ laser therapy that eliminates disease and restores health to the area.
If you notice any of these symptoms surrounding your dental implant, you should contact our office right away to discuss treatment:
- Red, swollen, or inflamed gums
- Gums bleed after brushing and flossing
- Implant post is visible
- Constant bad breath (halitosis)
- Loose dental implant
How LAPIP Works
Thanks to our PerioLase® dental laser, we are able to provide gentle, effective treatment that can save your dental implant investment. Through a process called LAPIP, our laser can eradicate infected gum tissue and stimulate the regrowth of damaged bone. The laser goes between your gums and implants to remove infection without the need for scalpels and often with minimal discomfort. We will also remove any bacteria and tartar buildup around the implant post to encourage the gums to reattach healthily and protect the implant again.
